Schoolhouse Rock Live! At Killarney Elementary
	The Winter Park Playhouse is so excited to bring Schoolhouse Rock Live to Killarney Elementary for the second annual artist in residence program! Instead of 3rd-5th graders simply enjoying this vibrant performance as an audience, they now get to become the stars on stage. Over the course of five weeks, students will learn the in's and out's of putting on a play and, at last, perform Schoolhouse Rock Live for their own classmates! MONDAY, APRIL 29, 2013 Today was a brilliant first day! We are so impressed by the students' willingness to learn and eagerness to get on stage. The students played a round of name games followed by a discussion regarding our rules and guidelines for each day. Here's what we collectively came up with: - Stay Safe - No chewing gum - Bring a pencil and snack/ water every day - No talking when others are talking - No running, throwing, or touching your classmates, keep your hands to yourself - Create a supportive atmosphere! Always applaud and encourage your classmates - Accept responsibility; if you don't rehearse at home and come in unprepared, consequences will take place - Respect everyone around you - Always wear tennis shoes and movable clothing - Keep the rehearsal space clean Auditions are on WEDNESDAY, May 1! Everyone is guaranteed a place in the show. These auditions will tell us, as directors, where to place the students. We will review the song, "Conjunction Junction" as well as the dance combination we learned. We will then break into small groups to audition. Students who want to sing solos and/or have lines in the show must participate in that portion of the audition. These auditions are not meant to be scary. We want to see who is willing to learn, try, and show us their best personality! We can't wait to see what this entire group has to bring to the table.
